Don’t Litter. Plan Ahead.

Eloise and Emily proudly marched with the Women’s March on Washington on 1/22/2017.

There have been some complaints about litter.  Though, this in now way, in my opinion, discredits the march itself (as some have tried to suggest it should). News is also that much of the trash was left over from the Inauguration the day before.

However,

No one should ever litter.  It is a selfish, disrespectful and irresponsible thing to do.  Plan ahead.  If you are going to a large public event (like a march) assume all garbage receptacles will be full.  Bring a couple of balled up plastic grocery sacks (they take up very little space when empty) and plan to bring your garbage with you until you can find adequate disposal and recycle facilities.

Always take responsibility for what you leave behind!

That said, you can donate to help support the employees doing this thankless work:

  1. Thank you both for braving the crowds at the Women’s March. My wife Eliza was there from Vermont with her sister Vicky from Amherst MA. Did you see them? 🙂 And thanks for that great idea. Keep on pickin up guys! Our good new ps her is that my Burlington meetup group is getting hot. This
Saturday , five folks are picking up in one needy neighborhood. Maybe you could start a Project Put Planet Person meetup in VA! That would make us related!

    • Hey Ken! THANKS FOR YOUR WONDERFUL MESSAGE!! i

I got it in email, but some weird glitch seems to have prevented it from showing up on the blog. So, I cut/pasted it from email into this comment below.

I so incredibly much appreciate your support and LOVE the amazing work you are doing!! And we can’t wait for your Planet Packs!! We’ll put ’em to good use and I think they’d make mighty nice Holiday gifts, too!!!

Hugs and BIG SMILES to you!!

Hi kids, today I gave you a local shout out. Here’s what I said in Charlotte Vermont’s front porch forum: A couple of cool things i just found out about recycling in the blue bin..some new things are now accepted: the metal lids of glass jars, frozen food boxes- but not liquid cartons or ice cream tubs, and my favorite…..Tadaaa…..slightly greasy pizza boxes! Oh yeh, and the foil wrappers such as on yogurt containers… remember food chunks are a no no so scrape em off. Food and recycling just don’t mix. Let’s get this discussion going. What can we ♻️, what can’t we? Questions? On a different note, an amazing 10 year old, Eloise, and her mom, Emily from Virginia started a blog and Facebook page around their idea that people should pick up trash and put it where it belongs. It’s project P U T for pick up trash of course. When I make the first batch of a thousand or so Planet Packs, Eloise is getting one gratis for all her good work. Say hi to them please, and give em some love. https://www.facebook.com/Project-PUT-Pick-Up-Trash-914932235307426/?ref=ts
